In this edition of 12 Questions, we explore how he turns movement into magic by keeping things playful, powerful, and personal.
1. You’ve described wellness as a state of being. What does that mean to you personally, beyond fitness?
I describe wellness as a state of being, I’m referring to a holistic sense of balance-not just physical health, but mental clarity, emotional resilience, social connection, and a sense of purpose. Beyond fitness, it’s about how people feel in their daily lives-energized, fulfilled, and connected.
2. You are certified in yoga, diving, and tennis. How do you blend these into a smooth guest journey?
By weaving yoga, diving, and tennis into curated experiences, I guide guests through a balanced journey of mindfulness, adventure, and movement. Each activity complements the other, creating a seamless flow that nurtures both body and spirit.
3. What is one experience you created that really reflected your own personality?
As a Recreation Manager, one experience that truly reflected my personality was launching a Tennis Social Club-a weekly event blending fun, inclusive match play with skill-building clinics and team challenges. It combined my love for tennis with my strength in people management, creating a space where guests and team members felt engaged, supported, and part of a vibrant community.
4. You say, “I rock it all the time.” Where does that mindset come from, and how do you inspire it in your team?
“I rock it all the time” comes from a mindset of ownership, passion, and showing up fully-even when things get tough. It’s about choosing excellence as a habit, not a moment. I inspire this in my team by leading with energy, celebrating small wins, and creating a culture where everyone feels valued, challenged, and trusted to shine in their own way.
5. What’s the most unexpected guest request you ever received, and how did you handle it?
One of the most unexpected guest requests I received was organizing a private underwater yoga session for a honeymoon couple who wanted something truly unique. As an experienced recreational professional, I coordinated with our dive team, adapted breathing techniques, and used shallow, calm waters to ensure both safety and serenity. The result? A magical, one-of-a-kind experience that they said they’d never forget.
6. You’ve worked in several countries. How has working across different cultures shaped your approach to recreation?
Working across different cultures has been incredible! It’s opened my eyes to how people connect, play, and recharge in so many unique ways. It’s made me super flexible and creative-I love blending local vibes with global trends to design recreation that feels exciting, inclusive, and totally unforgettable no matter where you’re from. Energy is universal-I just tune into the rhythm!
7. Can you share a story where a guest’s transformation through wellness left a big impact on you?
Absolutely! One guest joined our tennis clinic just looking for a light workout-but over the week, she kept coming back, gaining confidence, laughing more, and eventually asked for private sessions. By the end of her stay, she told me she hadn’t felt that strong or alive in years. Seeing her light up through movement reminded me why I do this—wellness isn’t just fitness, its empowerment, joy, and Impactful Energy. That transformation stayed with me.
8. What is one mistake you think resorts often make in recreation programming, and how would you fix it?
A common mistake is offering generic activities that don’t cater to diverse guest interests. To fix this, create personalized schedules with varied options, ensuring something for everyone to enjoy.
9. How do you keep your team motivated and enthusiastic during low season or slow days?
During the low season or slow days, I keep my team motivated by focusing on skill development, setting small achievable goals, and fostering a positive, collaborative atmosphere. I also encourage team-building activities and recognize their efforts through praise or small incentives, ensuring they feel valued even during quieter times.
10. If you could create your own signature experience at AVANI+, what would it be called and what would it include?
I would create the “Floating Tennis Court Experience” at AVANI+ in the Maldives. It would feature a unique, glass-walled tennis court set on a platform that floats above the crystal-clear waters, offering stunning views. Guests could enjoy an exclusive, private match or take lessons with a professional instructor, surrounded by the beauty of the ocean. This experience would also include a sunset session with refreshing drinks, turning the activity into a luxurious and memorable experience.
11. In a busy resort, how do you use calm moments like yoga to create meaningful guest connection?
I’d make yoga sessions more personal by inviting guests to share their intentions or thoughts before class, creating a space where they feel heard and connected. Afterward, I’d offer a casual chat over a refreshing drink, letting them bond over shared experiences.
12. If someone joined your team tomorrow, what would be the one principle or habit you’d want them to follow every day?
I’d want them to embrace the principle of “consistent positivity.” Every day, no matter the challenges, maintaining a positive attitude and outlook helps create an uplifting environment for both guests and team members, building a supportive and motivating atmosphere for everyone.
